Working with Adaptive Concepts LLC on the thermal management of a fast-paced spherical centrifuge was a fantastic experience. Our team dove into full-on simulations using the Navier-Stokes and energy equations, even factoring in viscous heating to see how the system performs in air and helium. We uncovered some really important insights, especially about how helium has better thermal properties, which led us to design tips for preventing overheating. This project really helped us strengthen our understanding of thermal design and showed just how crucial it is to get boundary conditions and fluid properties right in high-speed enclosed systems. I’m proud to have played a part in a study that improves design strategies for aerospace and biomedical fields.
